Welcome Cisco Shareholders

We are using the Internet as our primary means of furnishing proxy materials to shareholders. Consequently, most shareholders will not receive paper copies of our Proxy Statement and our Annual Report to Shareholders.

We will instead send these shareholders a Notice of Internet Availability with instructions for accessing the proxy materials, including our proxy statement and annual report, and voting via the Internet. The notice also provides information on how shareholders may obtain paper copies of our proxy materials if they so choose.

Participating in the Meeting

Due to public health and travel concerns as well as state and local government restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s annual meeting will be accessible online through the Internet. We have worked to offer the same participation opportunities as if you attended the annual meeting in person. To be admitted to the annual meeting at www.virtualshareholdermeeting.com/CSCO2020, you must enter the 16-digit control number found next to the label “Control Number” for postal mail recipients or within the body of the email sending you the Proxy Statement.

We encourage you to access the annual meeting before it begins. Online check-in will begin at 7:45 a.m. Pacific Time on the date of the annual meeting. If you have difficulty accessing the meeting, please call 1-800-586-1548 (toll free) or 303-562-9288 (international). We will have technicians available to assist you. This year’s shareholders question and answer session will include questions submitted in advance of the meeting at www.proxyvote.com after logging in with your Control Number, and questions submitted live during the annual meeting through www.virtualshareholdermeeting.com/CSCO2020.

About the Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials

The Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials instructs shareholders how to access and review the information contained in the proxy materials and how to vote via the Internet, by mail or during the meeting. The Notice contains:

• A notice of the Annual Meeting of Shareholders;
• A brief description of the items to be voted on at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders and the recommendation of Cisco's Board of Directors with regard to each item;
• The address of the website where the proxy materials are available and instructions on how to view them;
• Instructions on how to request paper or email copies of the proxy materials; and
• Instructions on how to vote over the Internet and how to access instructions on voting by telephone, or how to vote during the Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Importantly, the Notice of Internet Availability will contain a 16-digit control number that recipients will need to access the proxy materials, to request paper or email copies of the proxy materials, and to vote their shares via the Internet or by telephone. For this reason, we suggest retaining the Notice through the date of the annual meeting.

The Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials is first being mailed to shareholders on or about October 21, 2020.

Voting Your Proxy

If you are a registered shareholder or a beneficial shareholder and you would prefer to vote via the Internet, or you would like instructions on how to vote by telephone, visit www.proxyvote.com with the 16-digit control number from your Notice of Internet Availability or, if you received one, your paper proxy card or voter instruction form.

Paper or Email Copies of 2020 Annual Meeting Materials

If you are a Cisco shareholder who receives a Notice of Internet Availability and you would like to receive a paper or email copy of the proxy materials for the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, you must request one by following the instructions on the Notice of Internet Availability. The materials will be sent free of charge to shareholders who request them.

Shareholders may also elect to receive printed proxy materials for all future meetings. The Notice of Internet Availability provides instructions on how to request paper or email copies via the Internet, by telephone or by email. An excerpt of that information is repeated below. To request materials, you will need to have available the 16-digit control number that appears on the Notice of Internet Availability.

• Via email: Send a blank email with the 16-digit control number that appears on the Notice of Internet Availability in the subject line to sendmaterial@proxyvote.com.
